ハードディスクの中を捜索していたら、過去に書いた文章がいろいろと出てきました。なにせかなり以前に書いた文章なので、ときどき時代と合わない表現など出てきますが、今読んでみるとなんとなく面白かったので、こちらで公開

（五）試聴のこと

インディーズのミュージシャンが、自作のCDを販売する際に、おそらく避けては通れない”問題”がこの「試聴」の問題です。

CDの内容をほのめかすのに、これほど効果的な方法も、実は他にはありません。

インディーズのCDに少なからず関心を持つ人たちも、誰も知らないアーティストのCDを”内容も確かめず”に買うほど、皆ギャンブラーではないのです。

よく、CDの内容を言葉で説明してあることもありますが、そもそも音楽を言葉で”正確”に説明できるはずもなく、多くはそのギャップを埋められずに”カン違い”ともとれる誇大広告になったり、「とりあえずロック！」というようなアバウト過ぎて、もはやナゲヤリに感じられるものまであります。

さて、そこで「試聴」の登場になるわけですが、これには二つの立場があります。つまり、「試聴する側」と「試聴される側」です。

まず、試聴する側ですが、私は好きなアーティストのCDを買う際に、ほとんどの場合試聴をしません。これは、作品の衝撃（もしあるならば）を最大限に味わいたい、という思いとアーティストへの信頼からです。作品を”最初”に聴いたときの感動（もしあるならば）に、試聴によって水を差したくないというのもあります。

これはしかし、大抵は、すでにそのCDを”買う”ことが決まっていることが前提になります。そうでない場合は、私も試聴をすることがあります。

レヴューなどで書かれたことと、試聴内容のギャップはある程度しょうがないとしても,　CDを買う側としてこの”試聴”によってCDを買う気がうせてしまうことがあります。これには、また色々な場合がありますが、一つには、単純にその音源が気に入らなかった場合のほかに、その”試聴”によってもう”お腹いっぱい”になってしまったときです。

よい音源であれ、少し聴いてしまったことで、もう満足してしまうことは私にはよくあります。

聴く側は、自分勝手なもので、アーティストの思いなどそっちのけで、短時間の”試聴”でアルバム全体を理解、または把握したような気になってしまうものです。

これは、映画などの宣伝だけを観て「この映画はおもしろい！」とか「つまらない」とか言ってしまうのと似ています。

もしかしたら、聴いていない（観ていない）部分にとても素晴らしいところがあるかもしれないのに・・（しかし大抵はそんなことはないだろう、と私はは思っていることも、正直に告白しておきます）。

そして、これは「試聴される側」から考えると、とても理不尽なことに思えます。

作品をちゃんと聴いてもいないのに、色々と判断される（一般の人に）のはアーティストからみれば非常にハガユイことですが、ことアルバムに関してはよくあるのです。なぜなら、ちゃんと評価するためには、作品を手に入れないといけませんから・・（そう、大抵はお金をはらってネ）。

そこで、アーティスト達（特にインデーズなど）は作品の理解（少なくとも”全部聴く価値”はありますヨってことの）を得るために「試聴」という苦肉の策を講じるのです。

ここにまた、ジレンマが生じます。

作品の中で、どの部分を聴かせるかということで、多くのアーティストは少なからず悩みます。つまり、良い部分は作品を手に入れてから聴いてほしいし、悪い部分はわざわざ試聴させることもないでしょう。

私のように、アルバム単位で一つの作品だと考えている者にとっては、作品のある一部分だけの”試聴”によって、そのアルバムの雰囲気を伝えようとするのは、ある意味自殺行為だとさえ思えます。

いわゆる”ネタばれ”は避けたいですし、本編のテーマとかけ離れた部分のみの”試聴”は作品の誤解につながりますし、考えれば考えるほどその部分の選択は難しいものです。

まあ、このへんをさらっと考えるなら、”（一曲で言えば）前半部分を一分間だけ”なんてシンプルで良さそうですが、そんなに単純でもないのです（考え過ぎですかね？）。おお、これこそが私のコダワリかも（でも作品自体とは全く関係有りませんネ）。

「試聴はしない」と言い切れるほどの、またそれでも作品を聴きたい（手に入れたい）と思われるほどの、製作者としての”信用（そして認知）”が無い限りは、この問題は解決できそうにありません。

さて、そういうわけで、私は自分のアルバムを試聴出来るようにしていますが、その”試聴”ではアルバムの雰囲気（内容）をうまく伝えきれているとは思いません。なぜなら、それはその”試聴”のためにコダワリをもって考え過ぎた私が、むりやりひねり出した”苦肉の策”であるからです。

いやはや・・・。

This "listening" problem is probably an unavoidable "problem" when indie musicians sell their own CDs. In fact, there is no other way to hint at the contents of a CD. Not a few people who are interested in indie CDs are not so gamblers that they buy CDs of artists that no one knows "without checking the contents". Often, the contents of the CD are explained in words, but in the first place, music cannot be explained "accurately" in words, and many of them are hype that can be said to be "mistake" without filling the gap. There are things that become too about, such as "Rock for the time being!" Well, that's where "listening" comes in, and there are two positions. In other words, it is the "listening side" and the "listening side". First of all, on the listening side, when I buy a CD of my favorite artist, I almost never listen to it. This is because of the desire to maximize the impact of the work (if any) and the trust in the artist. One of the impressions (if any) of listening to the work "first" is that you don't want to water it by listening. This, however, usually assumes that you have already decided to "buy" the CD. If not, I may also audition. Even if there is a gap between what was written in the review and the content of the audition, this "listening" may make you feel like buying a CD as a CD buyer. There are many other cases, but one is when you simply don't like the sound source, or when the "listening" makes you "full". Even if it's a good sound source, I often feel satisfied after listening to it for a while. The listener is selfish, and it feels like he understands or grasps the entire album in a short "listening", regardless of the artist's thoughts. This is similar to watching a movie or other promotion and saying, "This movie is interesting!" Or "It's boring." Maybe there's something really nice about what I'm not listening to (not watching) ... (but most of the time I don't think that's the case, I honestly confess Put). And this seems very unreasonable from the "listening side". Even though I haven't listened to the work properly, it is very unpleasant for the artist to be judged in various ways (to the general public), but it is common for albums. Because, in order to evaluate it properly, you have to get the work ... (Yes, usually you pay for it). Therefore, artists (especially Indays) take a painstaking measure called "listening" in order to gain an understanding of the work (at least "it is worth listening to everything"). Here again, a dilemma arises. Many artists are not a little worried about which part of their work to listen to. In other words, I want you to listen to the good part after getting the work, and you will not bother to listen to the bad part. For someone like me who thinks that each album is a single work, trying to convey the atmosphere of that album by "listening" to only a part of the work is, in a sense, suicide. I think. I want to avoid so-called "spoilers", and "listening" only to the part that is far from the theme of the main story leads to misunderstanding of the work, and the more I think about it, the more difficult it is to select that part. Well, if you think about this strangely, it seems simple and good to say "(in one song) only the first half for one minute", but it's not that simple (Is it overthinking?). Oh, this may be my Kodawari (but it has nothing to do with the work itself). Unless you have the "credibility (and cognition)" of the creator, you can say "I won't listen" and still want to listen to (get) the work, this problem can be solved. Not so. Well, that's why I make it possible to audition my album, but I don't think that "listening" can convey the atmosphere (contents) of the album well.
