ハードディスクの中を捜索していたら、過去に書いた文章がいろいろと出てきました。なにせかなり以前に書いた文章なので、ときどき時代と合わない表現など出てきますが、今読んでみるとなんとなく面白かったので、こちらで公開

（六）音質のこと

音質について少し考える機会があったので、今回はそのことを・・

一体、”良い音”とはどういう音なのか。

最近ではインディーズの音源でも、非常に良い音で録音されています。空間の表現もすばらしく、感動的でさえあります。これは、エンジニア的な技術というより（もちろんそれもあるでしょうが）、著しく進歩した録音機材によるものが大きいと、私は考えています。

お金さえあれば、今は誰でも”良い音”を手に入れることができるのです。しかも昔に比べるとかなり安価で。

これは音源を制作する者にとっては喜ばしいことである反面、ある微妙な問題を提起しているような気がします。

まず、聴く人はそんなに”良い音”を求めているのか、ということです。

私はよくインディーズなどのサイトで音源の試聴なんかをしますが、感性を揺さぶられる音源というのは、必ずしも”良い音”ではないというのが正直なところです。私は音の良し悪しではなく、その向こうに何かがみえる（この表現がそもそも微妙ですね）音源に惹かれるようです。

考えてみれば、私がまだ音楽的に無防備だった頃、衝撃（影響）を受けた音楽のほとんどはカセットテープに録音されていました。レコード（！）またはCDからダビングしたテープのそのまたダビングだったこともありました。

正規に発売されているものでも、古い音源はやはり音的には今のインディーズの音源にもかなわないものが多いといえます。

しかし、感動はどうでしょう？

多くの古い音源は、確かに音質の悪いものが多いのも事実です。しかし、私はこの音の悪い音源の中にも、素晴らしい感動をくれる音源があるのを知っています。本当に・・

だから私は、一概に音質や音の良し悪しだけで、その音楽を判断するのはとてもナンセンス（古！）だと思っています。

もちろん、とはいえ、そんな私でも、良い音にはそれなりのパワーがあることを認めないわけにはいきません。音だけで、ある種の感動が起こりうることも私は分かっているつもりです。

しかし果たして、”良い音”の音楽ばかり聴いてきた人は、私が感動したような音の音楽で感動できるのか。良い悪いではないのかもしれませんが、これは今後を考えても、非常に心配なことだと思います（個人的には）。良い音しか聴けなくなってしまうのではないか。

古い（悪い）音源の感動を知っている者としては、これはとても残念なことです。

音が悪いというだけで、聴くことすらも出来なくなるのではないか。

耳が肥えてる、などとよく言いますが、音質が良いとか悪いとかいうことが分かることは、果たして”耳が肥えてる”といえるのでしょうか。私はその音源から、その向こうにある”何か”を感じ取ることが出来るということが、本当に”良い耳”を持っていると言えると思っています。その何かは”感動”かもしれません。そう、もちろん、その向こうには”何もない”かもしれませんが、そういう音源は私にとってはとても退屈なのです（どんなに音が良くてもネ）。

私は、音楽の最小単位が個々の音である、という考えを否定しません。だから良い音を追求する、ということも・・。しかし、その音の向こうにある”何か（また「何か」！）”こそが、それら個々の音（やその音質）より重要だと考えています。

つまり、コレが一番言いたかったことですが、音だけが良くてもしょうがない、ということです。

私の昔の（音の悪い）音源を聴いた人には、お前のは中身も悪いんだよ！などと言われそうですが、感動を求める一音楽ファンとしては、これは正直な気持ちです。

（例えば）デジタル処理された音源は、それは素晴らしいものも多いとは私もわかっています。しかし私がそれらの音源に本当に感動しているのは、その音質ではなく、その音源の向こうにある”何か（また！）”だということです。

(6) Sound quality

I had a chance to think about sound quality a little, so this time ... What kind of sound is "good sound"? Recently, even indie sound sources have been recorded with very good sound. The expression of space is also wonderful and even moving. I think this is largely due to the significantly advanced recording equipment, rather than the engineering skills (and of course it is). With money, anyone can get a "good sound" now. Moreover, it is considerably cheaper than in the past. While this is a pleasure for those who produce sound sources, I feel that it raises some subtle issues. First of all, do listeners want such a "good sound"? I often listen to sound sources on sites such as indies, but to be honest, the sound sources that shake my sensibilities are not necessarily "good sounds." I'm not attracted to the sound source, but to the sound source where something can be seen beyond it (this expression is subtle in the first place). Come to think of it, when I was still musically defenseless, most of the shocked (affected) music was recorded on cassette tapes. Sometimes it was another dubbing of a tape dubbed from a record (!) Or a CD. Even if it is officially released, it can be said that many old sound sources are not comparable to the current indie sound sources in terms of sound. But what about the excitement? It is also true that many old sound sources have poor sound quality. However, I know that some of these bad-sounding sources are very moving. Really·· Therefore, I think that it is very nonsense (old!) To judge the music only by the sound quality and the quality of the sound. Of course, I cannot help admitting that good sound has a certain amount of power. I also know that sound alone can cause some kind of excitement. However, can people who have listened to only "good sound" music be impressed by the music that sounds like I was impressed? It may not be good or bad, but I think this is very worrisome (personally) in the future. Maybe you can only hear good sounds. This is a shame for anyone who knows the excitement of an old (bad) sound source. Just because the sound is bad, you may not even be able to listen to it. It is often said that the ears are fat, but is it really "fat ears" to know that the sound quality is good or bad? I think that being able to feel "something" beyond that sound source really has "good ears". Something may be "impressive". Yes, of course, there may be "nothing" over there, but that kind of sound source is very boring to me (no matter how good the sound is). I do not deny the idea that the smallest unit of music is an individual sound. That's why pursuing good sound ... However, I think that "something (and" something "!)" Beyond that sound is more important than those individual sounds (and their sound quality). In other words, this is what I wanted to say the most, but it can't be helped if only the sound is good. For those who listened to my old (bad) sound source, you're also bad! But as a music fan who wants to be impressed, this is an honest feeling. I know that many (for example) digitally processed sound sources are great. But what really impresses me with those sources is not the sound quality, but the "something (again!)" Beyond the sources.
